CPA (Cost Per Acquisition)
A commission model where the affiliate is paid a one-shot amount per qualifying first-time deposit. Typical forex CPA range: $200-$1,850 per FTD.
FTD (First-Time Deposit)
The first deposit a referred trader makes at the broker. Triggers the CPA payout (subject to clawback window, usually 30-60 days).
IB (Introducing Broker)
An affiliate model where you earn a fixed per-lot rebate on every trade your referred clients make, for the lifetime of those clients.
Rebate / Per-Lot Rebate
The dollar amount paid per standard lot traded by your referred clients in the IB model. Industry range: $1.20 to $15 per lot.
Revshare (Revenue Share)
A commission model paying you a percentage of the broker’s net revenue from your referred clients. Common in crypto (40-70%) and prop firms (10-20%).
Hybrid
A combined CPA + Revshare deal. Smaller CPA upfront (30-60% of standalone rate) plus reduced revshare on long-term volume. Best for affiliates with mixed traffic types.
NNCO (No Negative Carryover)
Means a negative balance in one month does not carry forward to reduce next month’s commission. Essential for any affiliate at scale.
Sub-Affiliate / Sub-IB
A second-tier commission paid when another affiliate joins under your link. You earn a small percentage of their commissions. Industry range: 2-10%.
Clawback
A broker’s right to reverse commissions if the referred client withdraws their FTD within a window (typically 30-60 days). Reduces CPA earnings on flaky traffic.
Tier-1 Regulator
Top-tier financial regulators: FCA (UK), ASIC (Australia), CySEC (EU), NFA/CFTC (US), BaFin (Germany). Brokers with these have the strongest consumer protection.
Offshore Regulator
FSC Mauritius, FSA Seychelles, IFSC, VFSC, SCB Bahamas. Lower regulatory barriers, higher leverage allowed, higher rebates possible — but lower trust signal.
MT4 / MT5
MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 — the most popular trading platforms for retail forex. Most brokers support both.
cTrader
An alternative trading platform popular with premium ECN brokers (Vantage, Pepperstone, IC Markets). Better order execution UI than MetaTrader.
TradeLocker
A modern, mobile-first proprietary trading platform used by some newer brokers (Nexttrade) and many prop firms. Cleaner UI than MT4/MT5.
Leverage
The ratio of borrowed capital to your own. 1:30 (FCA/ASIC retail limit) means $1 controls $30 of position. 1:2000 (offshore brokers) means $1 controls $2000.
Spread
The difference between bid and ask prices. Tighter spreads (0.0-0.4 pips) = better trader experience = better referral retention.
Lot
A standard unit of trading volume. 1 standard lot = 100,000 units of the base currency. Mini lot = 10,000. Micro lot = 1,000.
EPC (Earnings Per Click)
Your total commissions divided by the clicks generating them. Higher EPC = higher-quality traffic + better broker fit.
Conversion Rate (CR)
The percentage of clicks that complete the qualifying action (FTD for CPA, first lot traded for IB). Industry average: 1-5% for organic traffic, 5-15% for warm Telegram/VIP traffic.
Lifetime Value (LTV)
Total commission a single referred client generates over their relationship with the broker. Critical for IB/Revshare profitability calculations.
AM (Affiliate Manager)
The person at the broker’s end who manages your account, negotiates rates, and approves payouts. Their responsiveness predicts your operational experience.
Cellxpert
An industry-standard affiliate tracking platform used by many forex brokers and prop firms (FunderPro, Blaze). Reliable attribution, UTM support.
MyAffiliates / NetRefer / Income Access / Affilka / PartnerMatrix
Other affiliate-tracking software platforms. Knowing which one a broker uses gives you data quality expectations.
Restricted Geos
Countries where the broker doesn’t accept clients (often: US, UK retail, France retail, Spain retail). If your top traffic country is restricted, the program earns you zero.
